	HERMANUS SPORTS VILLAGE The development proposal for the HERMANUS SPORTS VILLAGE was made to the Overstrand Municipality in mid-February 2003, and was extremely well received. Hermanus, with its current growth rate, is in dire need of a world class sporting venue, one that will house a number of both indoor and outdoor sporting codes. South Africa is a sports crazy country and Hermanus cannot be left behind in the race for tourism and international recognition. The area identified lies at the foot of the Raed-na-Gael mountains in Hermanus and is ideally suited for a development of this kind. The interest generated since the proposal is remarkable and the Municipality has taken the bold step of further investigating the feasibility of such a development. Although in its infancy, this project will be the realisation of Mark Brumer's lifelong goal : to put Hermanus firmly on the world sporting map.

Hermanus

Region: Hermanus and the surrounding residential areas of Onrus and Sandbaai are situated in the Overberg region, just one-and-a-half hours from Cape Town.
Town description: Set on magnificent cliffs on the Atlantic Ocean, Hermanus offers unsurpassed views as well as charming, coastal village atmosphere. Apart from being a holiday destination, the quaint village of Onrus is home to several painters, poets and bohemians.
The Great Outdoors: Whale watching from October - February, also hiking in Fernkloof Nature Reserve, horse riding on the beaches and a variety of water sport.
Regional Highlights: A hugely popular Whale Festival annually during October. A fine wine emporium sells wines of the region. Other nature reserves worth visiting are the nearby De Hoop.
