Sandbaai
Region: Hermanus and the surrounding residential
areas of Onrus and Sandbaai are situated in the
Overberg region, just one-and-a-half hours from
Cape Town.
Town description: Set on magnificent cliffs
on the Atlantic Ocean, Hermanus offers unsurpassed
views as well as charming, coastal village atmosphere.
Apart from being a holiday destination, the quaint
village of Onrus is home to several painters and
poets.
The Great Outdoors: Whale watching from October
- February, also hiking in Fernkloof Nature Reserve,
horse riding on the beaches and a variety of water
sport.
Regional Highlights:
A hugely popular Whale Festival annually during
October. A fine wine emporium sells wines of the
region. Other nature reserves worth visitig are
the nearby De Hoop.
